Week 1: Introduce

Research:
Installation of Richard Serra’s Sculpture Sequence
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QHuZMUkQVo)
This piece was made in 2006. It will start off as kind of an orangey red color and we’l gradually transform into a kind of a dark purple color. The pieces about a half million pounds. the notion of space probably was formed to a great deal by wandering around the sand dude.
through the pieces , the experience resides as you as a subject , so you become a subject matter of your own experience . If people go with an open mind , they find it something that differs both from nature and architecture and only sculpture can do that.

This sculpture was made by many people. Considering the interactivity of the audience.
Quayola & Sinigaglia with music by Mira Calix
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMUQqRM_xHQ)

It makes me uncomfortable. But when I turn off background music, it seems to be better. So I can also consider to put the music into my outcome.
Quayola and Memo Akten
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe-C_rv3_p0)
Visualizations of human motion/ use human actions into various models/ like this diving action most because it gives me a feeling of flowing water.

‘Axioma’ – 3D projection mapping at LLUM BCN Festival 2016 in Barcelona.

3D stereoscopic mapping (how to achieve that?) / use technology to show the different change. inspire me to try this way.
First idea: Ruined City (sculpture/3d model)
Brainstorm:

The first idea come to my mind is Ruined City because recently I watched some elements related to the disease. And I was interested in the future world.
Secondary researches:

These different 3D models of ruined city have the same style that shows the city with nothing exist. And they use the same grey and clod colour to represent the disaster world. There is a sense of unreality and the beauty of dilapidation in the first one. I could see the cars and streetlights on the road. The light on the building makes me feel that the world still exists. It has very detailed models of buildings, good scene organization. The second one paid more attention to the damage of buildings. And completely show the people no exist.

Tokyogenso used with bold and exaggerated colors to depict a completely different world, which is wild but full of vitality. It shows some new life in the future world. Maybe I could contrast nothing exist and growing plants together.
《Stray》
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stray_(video_game))
Stray is a third-person adventure game. Stray was heavily influenced aesthetically by Kowloon Walled City. After reading some background of this game, I found that the developers always look for the elements what they like that could inspired more of the story. So I think find a topic that I am interested in is important. I like the landscape in this game that has strong atmosphere of losing.

I tried to draw some sketch of some broken buildings and use clay or 3D painting come to my mind. I plan to go the 3D workshop to try some new thing.

Week 2 : communication
In this Thursday, we try to discuss with other people’s idea and explore for the further. I listen to the idea from Wenjia Wang and Emily. Wenjia wants to show some small surprise in the city like use some AR or 3D to give people a sense of belonging. And Wenjia’s idea is to use some natural elements to create a sculpture. Both of them are nice to listen and inspire me a lot.
VJ told to us about how to explore the next and what should we consider more completely. And it is interested that our three topic are related to each other. It helps us to discuss our topics each other. When Wenjia and Emily talk about their ideas, they could have a clear direction to explore and lots of research post on their blogs. That I should be learn.

Start To learning Blender

The first step of my work is to learn how to use blender. Following the course from internet, I made a hammer. I took some notes of some keyboard shortcut that I could be more skilled at Blender.

Animation
Blender and Premiere
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzBLZmmKiYs
After making the shot with blender, it was very difficult to export because of the computer performance problem, so I found someone online for help, and successfully exported the animation after paying the amount. I used pr to add text to the video to make the whole video meaningful.

Feedback
In the exhibition, I put my video on the tablet. I got positive feedback from all kinds of people, which made me very happy. When the results of my efforts are affirmed, I have more motivation and expectations for the next project.

Effect picture on the app
Considering that my work is to protect the environment, I think my video should be placed in the park for more people who want to protect the beautiful nature to see. Because most people who will play in the park love life and support the future environment. So I went to investigate Vauxhall Park and found it was a good place surrounded by nature. I think that if I can upload my animation on instagrams in this park, I will definitely gain something. So I made the effect photo on the right.
